Byzantine epic hero Digenis Akritas, also known as Digenis Akritas Basileios, is commemorated through folk ballads (Akritic ballads) and an epic describing his birth, adolescence adventures, adulthood, and death. Digenis Akritas is considered to be the perfect medieval Greek hero, who was a brave warrior of the frontier of Euphrates was born to an Arab father who was later converted to Christianity. Basil was a skilled warrior who spent all his life protecting the Byzantine Empire from the invaders (Miles-Morillo, & Morillo, 2014).
